Half Loads in Effect March 19, 2025

*Friendly Reminder: Half Loads are now in effect.
Under the Ontario Highway Traffic Act (HTA), the Town of Blind River has by-laws which regulate the movement of trucks/heavy vehicles through our town.
A heavy vehicle is any commercial vehicle having a gross vehicle weight of five tonnes or more.
To reduce the potential damage that heavy vehicles can have on roadways during the spring thaw, there is a period of reduced loading (half loads) on certain municipal roads. During this time, the maximum weight of vehicles must not exceed five tonnes per axle.
The reduced load period will begin Wednesday, March 19, 2025 at 12:01 a.m. The end date will be determined based on temperatures, precipitation and road conditions. All roads covered by half loading are posted with regulatory signs.
